How do I find the right roofing contractor?

Choosing the right roofing contractor can be a daunting task and before you spend your hard-earned money, you want to make sure that you hire someone who is going to provide the highest level of quality and service at a reasonable price.

• Ask Around – TALK to you neighbors who have recently used a roofing contractor or your homeowner’s association for a recommendation. Be sure to ask if they had any complaints, if they were responsive to your calls and questions, if they cleaned up well, if they finished on time, kept to the contract etc.
• Check out licensing requirement in your city and state – Did you know that only 21 of 50 states require a roofing contractor license? Make sure you that you understand your state and local licensing requirements and check that any contractor you are considering is in good standing.
• Ensure that any roofing contractor you work with carries adequate liability insurance (this is very important so that you are protected in the event of an injury on your property), carries worker’s compensation insurance, and is bonded.
• Get detailed quotes and compare the estimates paying special attention to the materials used, work to be done and costs.
